TRAITÉ DES OEILLETS, Par L'Auteur De Traité Des Jacintes...

Avignon: Chez Louis Chambeau 1762. Hunt 570: "a complete manual on the cultivation of carnations and pinks." Ardène, a priest and a botanist from Provence, was the most respected French authority on garden flowers of his day. He also published separate works on tulips, auriculas and ranunculi. This work on pinks is illustrated with fold-out engravings by Jean Aveline. This copy appears to resemble the Hunt copy in every respect except that the subtitle here refers to the TRAITÉ DES JACINTES, instead of the TRAITÉ DES RENONCULES, as in the Hunt copy. Hunt 570. 12mo (15.3 x 9 cm); lxii + 63-403 + (3) pp. + 3 fold-out copperplate engravings with impressions measuring 13.7 x 19.5 cm.

Newly bound in half calf, marbled boards with original marbled paper wrappers (chipped) bound in.
