         An exhibition or trade catalogue of the venerable Parisian firm Binder Frères' elegant late nineteenth century carriages printed in chromolithography. There are thirty full page color plates, one illustration to a plate, printed in blues, yellows, brown, black and with gilt details depicting one or more examples of such carriages as the caleche, the landau, the omnibus, the coupé, the "mylord, forme bateau," the victoria, the sociable, the phaéton, the grand breack, and the wagonette. All with lanterns and standard equipment. The Maison Binder, carriage maker to Charles X and much of European aristocracy, contributed greatly to the popularity of French carriages in mid- to late-ninteenth century Europe. Under the founder's sons, the firm continued as Binder Frères, eventually locating at 170 Boulevard Haussmann in Paris. A number of the prize medals awarded the firm are indicated on the catalogue's title page: Philadelphia 1878; Paris 1878; Moscow 1872, Vienna 1873 and Anvers 1885.   Oblong 8vo (27 x 19.5 cm); title page + 30 chromolithographed plates printed on rectos.  
         Original green cloth with embossed frame design at outer edges, embossed title in black; the slightest occasional foxing; very good to fine.
