ELEONORE, CANNES, With Descriptive Notes.
London: John & E. Bumpus, Ltd., 1898. Dedicated to His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales. Stock 280; Werger & Burton 116. The rose garden at Lord Brougham's Villa Eleonore was planned in 1865 by the noted horticulturist and gardener, Gilbert Nabonnand, after whom a number of the varieties in this list are named. The establishment of the Villa Eléonore by the first Lord Brougham and Vaux in 1834 started a vogue for the attractions of Cannes among the anglo-aristocracy. 4to (28.5 x 21.5 cm); (ii) + viii + (ii) +37 + (1) + 4 full page plates from photographs + (xxii) blank pages for notes.
