         Edition limited to 500 numbered copies. With an instructive preface by garden historian Eleanor Sinclair Rohde. A handsome facsimile edition of one of the most celebrated and influential early "florilegia," first printed in Utrecht in 1614-1615. The original engravings, prepared for the work by de Pass and two of his brothers, are among the finest copper-plate figures of plants ever produced. These depict the more common and popular garden flowers of the period, particularly bulbous and tuberous plants, arranged by season. The original English translation of the descriptive text is reproduced here in a pleasing calligraphic script by Margaret Shipton.   Two volumes, oblong 4to (18.7 x 28 cm); (50), (74) with 41 + 20 + 27 + 12 reproduced plates.  
         Original leather backed marbled paper over boards, leather spines very gently rubbed at ends; in dust jackets, one separated at spine; a very good set.
