(AUDOT, Louis E., ed.)   FIGURES POUR LE BON JARDINIER;   Représentant, En 70 Planches Contenant Plus De 400 Objets, Les Ustensiles Le Plus Généralement Employés Dans La Culture Des Jardins...       Paris: Audot,   (1834).
Tenth, enlarged edition of the FIGURES, a supplementary and complementary volume to the early French gardening periodical, LE BON JARDINIER, which began in 1755 and is still in publication. This volume was published to provide illustrations of the various tools and operations referred to there. It is especially valuable as a reference source for contemporary gardening tools, which it illustrated with sufficient detail to allow reproduction by blacksmiths or tool-makers who were shown the plates. The first edition of the FIGURES was published in 1813 with 24 plates, each subsequent edition added new plates while repeating those of the earlier editions. A descriptive text accompanies each plate and describes in detail the objects depicted. In addition to the tools, the plates also cover botany, grafting, pruning, greenhouse construction and operation, etc. Two 4-page supplements from 1835 and 1836 are added at the end.   12mo (18.2 x 10.8 cm); 148 + iv + 4 pp. + 71 engraved plates, some folding.
Original decorative printed paper wraps, well preserved.
