         First edition. A manual for vegetable cultivation directed specifically to the colonists of French West Africa. The book was published under the auspices of the municipality of Dakar from whose environs much of the information was gathered. The text is divided into two parts. The first addresses the cultivation of vegetables and fruits under the special conditions of the region while the second covers topics such as tools, pests and monthly operations. The whole is amply illustrated from line engravings and includes, at the end, three folding plans for gardens of different sizes.   8vo (23.7 x 15.5 cm); 123 + (3) pp. with wood engraved text figures throughout + 3 folding plans.  
         Original printed wrappers bound in cloth-backed marbled boards; shelf wear and corner bumping to boards; infrequent, faint scattered foxing to text.
