Péan is best known as the author of L'ARCHITECTE PAYSAGISTE, a standard French text on landscape architecture published in 1886. The present earlier work, however, was published more as a promotional piece, most of which was devoted to descriptions of 10 different garden plans serving as examples of his executed work. Half of the designs are for parks or public gardens, and all are identified as to location and/or client. A list of over sixty executed works is also included at the end.
