"The design of this book is to furnish the Canadian cultivator with a reliable guide in all matters relating to the cultivation of fruit, flowers and vegetables in our climate." Beadle was an Ontario nurseryman. He believed this work to be the first of its kind in Canada. As the title suggests, it is divided into three sections: fruit cultivation, kitchen vegetable cultivation, and flower cultivation. With wood engraved text figures and with three handsome color lithographs of fruits, vegetables and flowers by J.T. Rolph, lithographer, of Toronto.   8vo (22 x 14.5 cm); xvi + 391 pp. with numerous text figures + xii (ads)pp. + color lithographed frontispiece + 2 color lithographed plates.  
         Original green cloth stamped in black and in gold; scattered foxing, but a very good copy.
