Paris: Chez Eugene Onfroy,   1791.
LE BON JARDINIER was first published in 1755 as a small manual on general gardening practice organized mostly in the form of a gardener's calendar. It was continually reprinted, revised and enlarged, appearing in over 150 different editions and remaining in print to this day. De Grace was largely responsible for expanding the work well beyond its origins as a gardener's almanach and making it into a comprehensive horticultural manual. The text for the present edition was completely revised and enlarged sometime after 1784 and includes, among other changes, the addition of Linnean names for plants which had hitherto been listed with their French names only. Appended to the main text are two supplements for the years 1790, and 1791. Scarce; No copy of this or any earlier editions listed in OCLC.   12mo (12.2 x 6.8 cm); xxiv + 538 pp.
Contemporary mottled full sheep with decorative gilt spine; one tip gently worn, slight damp stain in margin of last six leaves, but generally a well preserved copy.
