(FARRAND,
Beatrix) REEF POINT GARDENS BULLETIN. Bar Harbor, Maine: Max Farrand
Memorial Fund, 1946 - 1955.
Fourteen original issues of
the garden periodical published by the landscape architect Beatrix Farrand
from her home at Reef Point on Mt. Desert Island in Maine. Reef Point was
built for Max Farrand's family in 1883. The gardens and library were eventually
opened to the public and, when her husband died in 1945, Beatrix Farrand
established the Max Farrand Memorial Fund to expand the activities of the
gardens and library. For this organization she wrote and published 16 issues
of the Reef Point Gardens Bulletin. These included a variety of articles on
horticulture and natural history, in general, and on the gardens and grounds
of Reef Point in particular. The garden's horticulturist, Amy Magdalene Garland,
also contributed articles. Included here are the first fourteen issues, the
last of these discussing garden prints at the reception room and libraries
at Reef Point. Fourteen parts, 8vo (23 x 15.3 cm); (4), (4), (8), (8), (4),
